A REPLICA of a 17th-century Spanish galleon is set to dock in Ayr Harbour next month.

The Galeón Andalucía will visit South Harbour Street from Thursday, August 13 until Sunday, August 23, giving visitors the opportunity to step aboard the historic vessel.

The ship is a full-size replica of the type of galleon used by the Spanish Crown for maritime expeditions between the 16th and 18th centuries.

Visitors will be able to explore the vessel, learn about its role in global trade routes linking Spain, the Americas and Asia, and discover what life was like aboard the famous sailing ships.

Family tickets, covering two adults and three children, will be available for £37.

Ports of Ayr and Troon said ticket information has been provided by the company behind the Galeón Andalucía and added that further details are expected to be shared through official South Ayrshire Council channels, including Destination South Ayrshire.

The attraction will be open daily between 10am and 8pm throughout its stay in Ayr.
