Full police statement as body is found near residential street in Arnold

Police were called to an area of woodland in Nottingham on Saturday afternoon following the discovery of a man's body.

Nottinghamshire Police and paramedics were called at about 1pm following the discovery near Killisick Lane.

Detective Sergeant Jamie Moore, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Whilst we don’t believe this man’s death to be suspicious we will continue to carry out enquiries on behalf of the coroner.”

A police presence remains around the Mellish rugby ground while the investigation continues, the spokesperson added.

Residents in Killisick Road spoke of their shock at a heavy police presence in their area today.

Paul Stones, 54, a depot manager of Coppice Road, Arnold, said: “It’s obviously a shame whoever it is. Condolences. It’s someone’s relative somewhere down the line.”

Faye Stones, 24, a nursery nurse of Coppice Road, Arnold, said: “Obviously thoughts go out to the family.

“You do not hear about it every day.”
