Nottinghamshire Police said no arrests were made during the large protest in Nottingham city centre on Saturday, August 22.
A large number of officers were in the city centre to police the event.
Two groups of protesters descended upon the city centre at around midday.
Despite some hostile scenes, officers said no arrests were made.
Assistant Chief Constable Kate Meynell, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "I would like to thank those members of the public who protested peacefully today.
“Our officers reacted quickly to respond to protestors moving from King Street to Parliament Street and Clumber Street in order to maintain a safe environment for all those involved and other visitors to the city centre.
“We know people want to make their voices heard. The right to lawful protest is key part of any democracy, which UK police uphold and facilitate.
“Some protesters attempted to breach police cordons – these issues were resolved very quickly by our officers alongside co-operation from event organisers.
“With so many people gathering in one place to make their voices heard we engaged with people throughout the afternoon to ensure this could go ahead in as safe a manner as possible.
"Nottinghamshire Police would like to thank people for continuing to work with officers at this challenging time.”
