Full of hot air? Part of a new diet range? Social media makes light of empty pie sold to footy fan

An AFL fan has been left doubly disappointed after being sold a pie with no filling at a game lost by his team in the final minutes of play.

"Hey Balfours … forget something?" the man, who wanted to remain anonymous, posted on Facebook alongside an image of a pastry shell that was obviously lacking the distinct content of the popular sporting ground snack.

Balfours spruiks its oval-shaped Footy Pie as being filled with "succulent cuts of meat, herbs and a slightly peppery seasoning," but the man served the empty pastry bit into nothing but air.

The man posted the picture on Saturday as he watched the Adelaide Crows go down to the West Coast Eagles at Adelaide Oval.

It has attracted several comments, many making light of the empty pie.

"Worst sixteen bucks you've ever spent," one user wrote.

"This post is just full of hot air," said another.

According to another, it was part of "the new weight watchers range from Balfours".

"Looks like it's full of Adelaide's chances of winning," offered another user.

As well as dealing with the letdown of the meatless pie, the Crows fan had to watch on as his team lost.

The Eagles came from 33 points down in the third quarter, kicking 10 of the last dozen goals of the match to produce a stirring victory, 13.7 (85) to 10.13 (73).
