Full Nottinghamshire Police statement after man shot in 'targeted attack'

Nottinghamshire Police have issued a statement after a man was shot in the back in the Snape Wood area on Nottingham.

Officers from Nottinghamshire Police were called to Spindle Gardens in Snape Wood, near Bulwell just before 1am on Saturday, November 21.

A 25-year-old man was taken to hospital with what is thought to be life-altering injuries. His family have been informed.

A major investigation has now been launched.

Detective Inspector Jonathon Naylor, said: "Any incident which potentially involves a firearm is treated incredibly seriously and we have a large number of resources looking for those responsible.

“We have been working hard on this case through the night and have numerous enquiries to continue with. Early investigations suggest this was a targeted attack and we don’t believe there is a wider threat to the public but retain open mind.”

"We will be increasing police patrols over the next few days so people can speak to us about what happened and we will be visiting homes nearby.

“It’s a large residential area so we know that people will have concerns and they also might have seen or heard something that could help.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 30 of 21 November 2020.

You can also call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
