Eddie Howe won't be in attendance as his Magpies reign gets underway later this afternoon.
The new Magpies boss contracted Covid-19 which has ruled him out of the fixture, but he has had ample time on the training ground to prepare his new side for the clash against Brentford.
Speaking to the media earlier this week, Howe hinted that a number of internationals could be absent from the Magpies ' starting XI this weekend.
Howe met Miguel Almiron for the first time on Friday, and admitted it had been difficult to get his message across to those international players in such a short space of time.
Fortunately for Newcastle, key players like Allan Saint-Maximin and Callum Wilson have both spent the last two weeks training on Tyneside ahead of the clash against the Bees.
Jonjo Shelvey is expected to be a key figure under Howe after the latter revealed the Newcastle midfielder impressed him on the training ground this week.
