Full Met Office weather forecast for Wales this week as Monday set to be even hotter than weekend

There were scorching heatwaves across Wales at the weekend but the weather is set to become even hotter over the coming days.

On Sunday temperatures soared to 30.2°C (86.4F) in Cardiff making it officially the hottest day of the year so far in Wales.

But according to the Met Office Wales is set to get even hotter with temperatures expected to reach 31°C in Monmouth on Monday with a minimum of 16°C.

It is expected to reach 31°C in Cardiff with a minimum of 19°C. In Swansea temperatures will soar up to 27°C with a minimum of 16°C while in Wrexham there will be maximum temperatures of 28°C and a minimum of 16°C.

In Aberystwyth temperatures will reach a high of 26°C and hit 15°C at the lowest. In Carmarthen the high will be 27°C with a minimum temperature of 16°C. The mercury in Holyhead will top out at a more modest 24°C but the lowest will also be 15°C while in Caernarfon temperatures will range between 15°C and 26°C.

In St David's, estimates suggest temperatures could reach 24°C on Monday with a minimum of 14°C and in Newtown it's expected to be even higher between 28°C at the top end and falling to 14°C at the lowest.

Across Wales on Monday it should be another fine day with plenty of sunshine, according to the Met Office, with fair-weather clouds forming in the afternoon and the possibility of showers in some areas.

The scorching weather is set to continue for the rest of the week with the risk of isolated showers developing each afternoon between Tuesday and Thursday but "very warm weather" set to continue through this period "with plenty of sunshine," according to the Met Office.
