Full Met Office weather forecast for Nottingham amid 'Beast from the East 2' fears

Temperatures in Nottingham are expected to cool towards the end of the week as some meteorologists share fears of another 'Beast from the East' this winter. The phenomenon five years ago saw the UK hit with deep snow and blizzards, but some forecasters are saying they would not rule out another big freeze this year.

Jim Dale, from the British Weather Service, said experts are keeping an eye on a vortex spinning over the North Pole as they believe it could spark a Sudden Stratospheric Warming event, also known as an SSW. He said: "At the moment I am favouring a more mobile weather pattern from the Atlantic. Instead of a big snow event, we may be more likely to see a named storm during the start of 2023.

"However, that does not mean it is not going to happen. If it does it will be more likely to affect northern parts of the country."

Sudden stratospheric warmings (SSWs) often precede warm temperatures in Northern Canada and cold, stormy weather throughout Europe and the United States. But the Met Office has dismissed the idea that another Beast from the East is on the way.

Met Office meteorologist Diane Stroud told the Mirror: "The weather is firmly from the south and west for the rest of the week. There is no Beast from the East."

"For the rest of the week it really is all about the rain, we have system after system of rain across the country." Below is the full Met Office weather forecast in Nottingham for rest of the week.
