Full Liverpool squad available to Jurgen Klopp for Arsenal clash as summer signing could start

Liverpool return to Anfield to face Arsenal for the second time in three days with a place in the Carabao Cup quarter-final at stake.

Jurgen Klopp's side emerged victorious in their meeting on Monday night, beating Arsenal 3-1 thanks to goals from Sadio Mane, Andy Robertson and Diogo Jota.

The impressive display underlined Liverpool's title credentials, on a weekend where previous favourites Manchester City were beaten 5-2 at home by Leicester.

Speaking after the win over Mikel Arteta's side, Reds boss Klopp hailed his team's performance.

Liverpool 3-1 Arsenal: Mikel Arteta press conference

"It was good," he told LFC TV. "It was a really good game, I loved pretty much each second. I didn’t like the goal we conceded but the reaction afterwards immediately, I liked a lot.

"Against a top team in form playing like we did tonight is something, to be honest. It doesn’t help us for Thursday or help us for Sunday, but for tonight it was quite good, I have to say.

"I really liked it: we were dominant, we played football, we were difficult to defend, the counter-press was top, attitude was great and played some really good stuff.

"Arsenal had not too many, but some, chances because they have real quality. I think most of the moments they had were offside, so good defending, but Ali made a save anyway

"It was all good, a really good performance."

Klopp is set to make several changes to his line-up for the clash against Arsenal on Thursday night, with summer signing Jota pushing to start after his impressive cameo on Monday.

The likes of Takumi Minamino, Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri are also likely to feature after starring in the previous round win over Lincoln.

Thiago Alcantara will once again miss out, with the midfielder isolating after his positive COVID19 test.

Left-back Kostas Tsimikas will also not be involved due to a thigh problem picked up at Lincoln.

“We have Kostas, who after the Lincoln game had a thigh problem,” Lijnders told the club’s official website.

“We thought it would settle, it didn’t, so he will need more time. He will not be involved on Thursday and also not on Sunday.”
