Full Liverpool squad available for Newcastle as four players ruled out

Liverpool are gearing up for their return to Premier League action today against Newcastle United.

The Reds travel to St James’ Park this evening as they look to follow on from their recent win in the Merseyside derby. The victory over Everton was a first in the top flight for Liverpool in 2023.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are in ninth place in the Premier League table, and are nine points adrift of the Champions League places. Newcastle are in fourth place and have played one game more than the Reds.

Liverpool could welcome a key player back to their matchday squad, with Virgil van Dijk set to return. Klopp confirmed that the Dutchman is likely to be available for the first time since January 2, after recovering from a hamstring injury.

Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino made their return against Everton on Monday night, while Arthur Melo has featured in training this past week. However, today’s match will be too soon for Luis Diaz, Ibrahima Konate and Thiago Alcantara, while Calvin Ramsay is now likely to miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery in the week.

Here is a look at Liverpool’s expected squad to be available to face Everton, barring any late injury issues.

Goalkeepers: Adrian, Alisson, Caoimhin Kelleher.

Defenders: Andy Robertson, Joe Gomez, Joel Matip, Kostas Tsimikas, Nat Phillips, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk.

Midfielders: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Arthur Melo, Curtis Jones, Fabinho, Fabio Carvalho, Harvey Elliott, James Milner, Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita, Stefan Bajcetic.

Forwards: Ben Doak, Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah.

Sidelined: Luis Diaz (knee), Calvin Ramsay (knee injury), Ibrahima Konate (hamstring), Thiago Alcantara (hip injury).
