The Conservative Party are on course for a landslide majority in the General Election after a disastrous night for the Labour Party.
Jeremy Corbyn's party lost traditional seats like Wrexham, Blyth Valley, and Don Valley - in the party's worst electoral performance since the second world war.
But in Liverpool and Wirral Labour candidates held their seats and in Birkenhead, longstanding incumbent Frank Field lost out to the Labour candidate.
The 10pm exit poll projected a huge Tory majority, and so far the results have suggested it is largely correct, with Labour's heartland seats tumbling like dominoes.
Mr Corbyn has already made clear that he will stand down as leader - but he suggested he will stay in charge while the party reflects on what went wrong.
