Full list of traffic diversions in place ahead of Donald Trump's Doonbeg visit

A huge amount of traffic restrictions have been put in place ahead of Donald Trump's arrival in Ireland tomorrow.

The US President is staying at his resort in Doonbeg from Wednesday, with gardai working around the clock to ensure that traffic is kept to a minimum.

While the Hotel and Golf Resort is closed to the public since this morning, the village itself is unrestricted and is business as usual.

However, gardai will be patrolling diversion routes in order to maintain free flow traffic.

Students and parents are advised to give extra time when travelling to Junior or Leaving Cert exams, which gardai have previously told Second Level Schools in affected areas.

A garda spokesman said: “Southbound traffic is diverted along the R483 to Creagh and Cooraclare and into Kilrush.

“Northbound traffic from Kilrush is diverted On the R483 to Cooraclare, Creagh, Quilty and Miltown Malbay.”

They also stated that access for local residents along the N67 diversion route will be maintained.

Locals have been given access passes but are advised to carry photo ID and proof of address to help with security checks.

No restrictions are thought to be put in place in Shannon Town and no disruption is expected.

Shannon Airport will operate as normal but it is advised to keep updated on their social media accounts.

No street parking is allowed at the airport and will only be tolerated in designated areas.

If travelling to the airport, it's advised to give extra time as additional security is in place until Friday.
