Full list of things considered breaches of Irish lockdown rules - and how much they could cost you

With current restrictions seeing an extension to April 5, in line with the government’s latest steps in dealing with Covid-19, gardai continue to have the power to fine those in breach of ongoing measures.

Among the active fines being dished out by An Garda Siochana are Fixed Payment Notices of €500 for organising house parties and other events, as well as travelling from your home to an airport or port for non-essential reasons.

Fines of €150 are in place for those who choose to attend house parties in the midst of the current level 5 restrictions.

Members of the public can also be fined €100 for travelling without an essential excuse.

If you’re caught without a face mask on public transport, public premises, in taxis, shops, restaurants, or anywhere where you’re expected to wear one, you can be fined €80.

Passengers arriving from any destination must now legally quarantine for 14 days at whatever address they list on their Passenger Locator Form.

If gardai discover non-compliance, those involved can face a €2,500 fine, six months in prison, or both.

The latest update from An Garda Síochána confirmed that around 7,950 Covid-19 fines have already been issued across the range of all COVID-19 breaches.

6,297 of these were €100 fines for non-essential travel, and 263 were €500 fines for non-essential journeys to airports/ports.

Meanwhile, 197 people were handed €500 fines for organising a house party, 747 €150 fines were handed out for attending house parties, and 155 €80 fines for not wearing a face covering.

620 court prosecutions have been initiated to date following consultation with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution.

An Garda Síochána will be continuing nationwide checkpoints and high visibility patrols at public amenities across the country this weekend in support of public health regulations.
