Full list of settings where masks will no longer be mandatory as Cabinet decision due next week

The Cabinet is due to meet on Tuesday to finalise plans of lifting the remaining Covid-19 restrictions in Ireland.

Back on January 22, the government decided to lift the vast majority of measures amid a return to normality.

However, rules around the need for masks in certain settings and the use of the EU Digital Covid Cert for international travel remained in place.

On Thursday, NPHET recommended that the rules on face coverings be dropped in most areas despite case numbers remaining high.

Today, Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly will consider the recommendation from Dr Tony Holohan and will bring it before Cabinet next week.

On Tuesday, if the change is accepted, mandatory mask-wearing would no longer apply in schools, on public transport, in taxis, retail premises and in public offices.

It is understood that they will still need to be worn on airplanes in order to respect measures that remain in effect in other countries.

Passengers will still be required to wear a face-covering for the duration of the flight and where necessary, depending on the destination.

Those headed away over the coming weeks will also need to check existing travel measures as some countries will now only allow entry to those who have proof of vaccination - within the expiry period.

If you have received the final dose in your initial vaccine series, you have 270 days to travel without additional measures like testing and quarantine.

If you have had your booster or an additional dose, you will not be subject to any expiry date.

For anyone who has not received any vaccine, there are only certain countries that continue to allow entry, and all require a negative PCR before departure.
