Full list of Scottish hospitals giving coronavirus vaccine - is yours one of them?

Over 20 hospitals and a major conference centre will be used to carry out mass vaccinations as Scotland launches the biggest immunisation programme in its history.

This week the first jabs were carried out by the NHS in a huge breakthrough as the fightback against the C ovid-19 pandemic begins.

There are currently 17 mass vaccination centres being prepped for the rollout across the UK including one in Scotland - the Edinburgh International Conference Centre.

Additionally 21 Scottish hospitals will be administering jabs to patients in coming months.

People will be contacted by the NHS when their turn comes around to be vaccinated - with members of the public urged to be patient and not contact authorities themselves.

The rest of the population will follow, with the government hopeful the mass immunisation can be carried out by the spring.

Care home residents, people over 80 and healthcare workers will be among the first to be given the jab, with health chiefs saying prioritising those most in need will stop 99% of preventable Covid-19 deaths.

The welcome news comes after Nicola Sturgeon announced last week that a total of 5330 Scots were given the breakthrough Covid vaccine in the first two days of a national health programme.

The injections were offered in almost all regions, while Shetland and the Western Isles residents will get them this week.

The First Minister said the rate of infection is falling after weeks of serious restrictions in high-risk areas.

But she warned there is still a long way to go in the massive public health battle.
