Full list of places offering free EV charging on World Electric Vehicle Day

To celebrate World Electric Vehicle Day on 9 September, RAW Charging are offering free EV charging across a range of locations in the UK including National Trust sites, Greene King pubs and theme parks.

You could find yourself riding rollercoasters while charging your vehicle for free at Merlin Entertainment sites like Legoland, Alton Towers, Thorpe Park, or Chessington World of Adventures.

Free charging will also be available at a range of National Trust sites, including Pen y Fan, the highest peak in Wales in the Brecon Beacons.

The celebration of World EV Day comes after the government pledged to install 100,000 street-side EV charging points across England following £381 million of funding in June.

The new charging points will be an addition to 80,000 existing public charging points across the UK.

The government also launched a consultation in January to phase out the sale of petrol and diesel cards in the UK from 2030, in attempts to transition to zero emission vehicles in the UK.

According to the RAC, there are currently 871,094 plug-in hybrid electric vehicles in the UK.

Data from a government survey conducted in 2023 showed that 49 per cent of people planning to buy a new car intended to buy an ultra-low emission vehicle as their next car.

Jason Simpson, CEO of RAW Charging, said: “The growing network of EV chargers across the UK means that drivers no longer have to worry about range anxiety or whether they’ll be able to get home.

“Whether you're exploring family-friendly attractions, enjoying scenic hikes, or shopping till you drop, there are now countless exciting activities to do while your EV charges, making your trip even more enjoyable.”
