First Bus warn of huge delays to Leeds buses after suspicious package incident

First Bus have warned of 'disruption to the entire network' in Leeds after the discovery of a suspicious package saw several city centre roads cordoned off.

Quebec Street, Queen Street, King Street and Wellington Street were cordoned off by police after a suspicious package was discovered in Queen Street this morning.

The Army’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team has arrived at the scene and the investigation into the package is ongoing, with buildings in the Queen Street area evacuated.

The closures have caused long delays in Leeds city centre, with buses diverted for hours, and First Bus are warning of delays of up to 70 minutes while services recover from the incident.

Queen St, King St and Qubec St have been reopened to traffic, but Park Place remains cordoned off. Buses are returning to normal routes but travel disruption is still expected.

Due to the incident, under the Bus Alliance, passengers are also able to use valid First Tickets on First West Yorkshire, Arriva Yorkshire and Transdev buses until the end of service today.
