Full list of Ireland’s bank holidays for 2022 as Easter holidays to follow bonus day off

Many people across Ireland are preparing to enjoy a four-day weekend thanks to a bonus bank holiday.

The extra day off was introduced this year as a tribute to health workers and to remember those who died with Covid.

It falls on March 18 this year, following St Patrick’s Day which is always a bank holiday.

From next year, it’s expected to be permanently set on a date around St Brigid’s Day.

The bonus day brings the number of public holidays in Ireland to 10.

After the St Patrick’s Day celebrations, the next time off workers can look forward to is around Easter.

Easter falls on Sunday, April 17 this year, with Easter Monday, April 18, the next bank holiday.

This year’s school Easter holidays are likely to take place from Monday, April 11 until Friday April 22.
