Full list of high-risk countries that will require UK arrivals to quarantine in a hotel

Travellers arriving into the UK from one of 30 "red list" countries will be required to spend their isolation in approved quarantine hotels.

The full list of countries subject to the new rules has been revealed, with anyone returning from these destinations facing strict isolation rules.

The roster of places is made up of those considered high-risk, with evidence of new variants of coronavirus being transmitted within their borders.

Anyone coming into the country from the listed destinations will automatically be refused entry unless they fall under the tightened permitted reasons.

Those unable to be turned away will be met at the airport and transported straight into a quarantine facility where they must remain for 10 days with no exception.

It comes as a tough new border policy for the UK was announced in the House of Commons.

The government is imposing a host of new rules in a bid to protect the country from the threat of new strains of Covid-19 entering the country amid a mass vaccination effort.

Other new measures include mandatory declaration of reason for outward and inward travel, and increasing police checks to ensure international arrivals are following self isolation rules, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Travellers will reportedly face bills of more than £1,000 for their stay (PA)
