Full list of North East flood alerts and warnings issued by the Environment Agency

Several flood alerts and warnings are now in place in the North East.

In our region, coastal areas such as Berwick , Seahouses and Tynemouth are all affected and flood barriers are also being deployed on the Quayside.

The Environment Agency issued the warning for the Tyne Estuary from 4.45pm until 7.15pm on Tuesday as strong winds batter the UK and the two car parks behind the Guildhall will be closed for safety reasons.

Now five more warnings have been put in place as well as some less severe flood alerts.

Here is the full list from the Environment Agency:

Tyne Estuary

“A tidal surge and waves are expected to overtop sea defences on the Tyne Estuary between 16.45 and 19.15 today.

“This is due to high spring tides and strong winds combined with low pressure in the North Sea.

“The main area of concern is North Shields Western Promenade, North Shields Low Lights Promenade and Newcastle Quayside.

“Flooding to properties/roads and farmland is possible at these times, however conditions may apply two to four hours either side of the high tide.
