Full list of EH postcodes to receive Cold Weather Payment as temperatures drop in Edinburgh

Due to cold weather across Scotland, a new set of Cold Weather Payments have been authorised.

In recent weeks, temperatures in Edinburgh have dropped well below freezing, with snow ice and rain all making an appearance.

Now, those who are eligible will receive a voucher to cover their extra heating costs, to ensure people on lower incomes do not go without during the winter.

The £25 will be paid directly into bank accounts by the Department for Work and Pensions, reports the Daily Record.

Anyone receiving Pension Credit, Income Support, income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance, Employment and Support Allowance, Universal Credit or Support for Mortgage Interest may be eligible for the extra financial support.

You do not need to apply for the Cold Weather Payment, if you are eligible, you will be paid automatically - check if you qualify on the GOV.UK website here.

Next week, forecasters predict milder conditions for Edinburgh and the Lothians, with heavier rain to make an appearance around Wednesday.

However, temperatures are predicted to drop a little by the end of the week, with lows of -2C.
