Full list of 'critical' sectors where workers will be exempt from self-isolation rules

A list of workers who can avoid having to self-isolate has been revealed by the Government.

Jobs that involved medicine, food production and supply, digital infrastructure and border control are among those featured.

Employees in the listed roles can continue to work only if "there would otherwise be a major detrimental impact on essential services".

The list is not an automatic exemption and to get onto the scheme workers must be double-jabbed.

They must also pass a PCR test and follow up with daily lateral flow tests.

If any results are positive, isolation will be required.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson said: “We will protect crucial services including the staffing of our hospitals and our care homes, the supplies of food, water, electricity and medicines, the running of our trains, the protection of our borders and the defence of our realm, by making sure that a very small number of named, fully vaccinated, critical workers are able to leave their isolation solely for the work I have described.”
