The Indianapolis Colts have concluded the 2019 NFL Draft with 10 selections focusing mostly on the defensive side of the ball.
From the beginning, the Colts moved all over the draft order both trading back and moving up throughout the offseason’s biggest event. When it was all said and done, this is how the 2019 class unfolded:
- Round 2 (No. 34) – CB Rock Ya-Sin, Temple
- Round 2 (No. 49) – LB Ben Banogu, TCU
- Round 2 (No. 59) – WR Parris Campbell, Ohio State
- Round 3 (No. 89) – LB Bobby Okereke, Stanford
- Round 4 (No. 109) – S Khari Willis, Michigan State
- Round 5 (No. 144) – DB Marvell Tell, USC
- Round 5 (No. 164) – LB E.J. Speed, Tarleton State
- Round 6 (No. 199) – DE Gerri Green, Mississippi State
- Round 7 (No. 240) – OT Jackson Barton, Utah
- Round 7 (No. 246) – G Javon Patterson – Ole Miss
Evident from the list of draft picks, the Colts emphasized the middle of their defense in a big way. Most of the prospects brought in are excellent athletes that move well in space.
The Colts wound up adding another pick at the end of the seventh round in a trade that sent defensive tackle Hassan Ridgeway to the Philadelphia Eagles.
It remains to be seen how this year’s class will pan out, but there is plenty of upside with each of the picks to fit in their respective spots on their side of the ball.
Now, the Colts will be looking to add some more faces with undrafted rookies that didn’t hear their name called during the draft.
