Full list of businesses to open in Scotland next week - and which ones will stay closed

Nicola Sturgeon's lockdown announcement has given the green light for more businesses across Scotland to reopen.

The First Minister confirmed that the next stage of the roadmap will take place next week allowing mainland Scotland - with the exception of Moray - to move down to Level 2.

This means a whole raft of services closed during the full national lockdown can swing open their doors and welcome customers again from May 17.

Hairdressers, pubs, shops and gyms were allowed to reopen on last month as lockdown was partially lifted.

But others including cinemas, bingo halls and theatres can now all resume trading from next week.

Scroll down for The Daily Record's full list of businesses and activities that are allowed from May 17:

  • Gyms, leisure centres and swimming pools
  • Hotels, B&Bs, self-catering, hostels, caravan and camping sites

  • Visitor attractions
  • Libraries and community centres
  • Cinemas
  • Theatres
  • Concert halls
  • Amusement arcades
  • Casinos
  • Bingo halls
  • Bowling alleys
  • Snooker/pool halls
  • Stadiums and events – with maximum numbers

The Scottish Government also announced that people can now meet in a group of six from three households indoors for the first time in months.

This paves the way for gym classes to resume, with fitness fans previously having to exercise alone unless outdoors.

Despite a large number of businesses allowed to reopen on May 17, there are still some that are forced to stay shut in Level 2.

The businesses that have to stay shut:

  • Nightclubs
  • Funfairs
  • Soft play areas
  • Adult entertainment
