Pizza Express today announced it will be opening 118 restaurants with outdoor dining from April 12.
That’s just three weeks away.
The 55-year-old chain has taken a beating the pandemic, axing more than 2,000 jobs and permanently closing 73 restaurants.
A fresh management team was installed late last year with City grandee Allan Leighton as its chair following a debt-for-equity swap with senior bondholders who took control of the business from Chinese private equity firm Hony Capital.
All remaining 380 branches are due to open when indoor dining is allowed from May 17 under current roadmap out of lockdown.
Zoe Bowley, MD, said: “We’ve really missed buzz and bustle and seeing our customers enjoying their favourite pizza.
“Our Cook At Home range and Click & Collect and Delivery services have been immensely popular during the past few months, but we can’t wait to fire up our ovens and swing open our doors again.”
