Full list of 109 Wirral roads getting repaired in £4m council plan

Potholes on roads across Wirral will be tackled in a £4m plan by the local authority.

More than 100 roads will be targeted in Wirral Council’s Highway Maintenance Programme, with work starting this month.

Eight of them will be resurfaced, while the rest will have treatment work carried out on the existing road surface.

While the council is adamant that the borough’s roads are in good condition overall, this work will target potholes and other forms of wear and tear on Wirral's roads.

Wirral Council said all the repair work will be carried out in the most environmentally friendly way possible.

The council’s own teams and contractors will work with suppliers to minimise the greenhouse gas emissions produced by the repairs and reduce waste.

It is hoped the work will ensure travel throughout the borough continues to be safe.

Simon Fox, Wirral Council’s interim assistant director for highways and infrastructure, said: “Wirral’s road network is in good condition generally and is in the top quartile nationally.

“However, it needs continual investment to maintain it at that level.

“Repairing roads across the borough is essential to keep Wirral moving – whether that be by bike, on foot or in a vehicle - and our annual programme is a major investment to deliver on those expectations, keep our residents safe and help our borough with its economic recovery, post Covid-19.”

The roads selected for repairs follow results from a condition survey.

As well as this, reports received from highways inspectors, the public and councillors were used to decide which roads would be included in the programme.
