Full list as dozens of Wetherspoon pubs could close

Dozens of Wetherspoon pubs could close as they are currently under offer, reports The Mirror. In September last year, Wetherspoon announced it would put more than 30 pubs up for sale.

The Mirror says 20 of those have already closed, including John Stirling Maxwell in Glasgow, and a further 19 are now on the market.

The Plough and Harrow in Hammersmith, west London, and the Wrong 'Un in Bexleyheath, southeast London, are still up for sale. The pubs which are under off could still remain open if a sale doesn't complete.

Speaking last year, Tim Martin, founder of the hospitality giant, said the commercial decision was made after a difficult period after the pandemic.

Eddie Gershon, spokesman for the chain, said at the time: "On occasion, Wetherspoon does put some of its pubs up for sale. This is a commercial decision.

"We understand that customers and staff will be disappointed with it. The pubs will continue to operate as Wetherspoon outlets until they are sold."
