Full list and exemptions as NHS workers to get mandatory covid jab

All NHS workers and social care workers will be required to be double jabbed against coronavirus before April 1 next year as per new government guidelines.

Currently there are estimated to be around 100,000 frontline personnel who have not yet had both doses of the Covid vaccine, who will need to do so before spring, otherwise they may face dismissal from their jobs.

Jabs were already announced to be compulsory for those working in care homes in England, in June, and the deadline for workers receiving both injections is this week on Thursday November 11.

The following professionals will be among those who must be double jabbed before April next year:

  • doctors

  • nurses

  • midwives

  • paramedics

  • pharmacists

  • social workers

  • care workers

However there are a few exemptions to the rule including those who are medically exempt and workers who do not have to face contact with patients.

The health minister believes that, while some NHS staff may leave, making jabs mandatory will drive up vaccination rates by prompting those who have been refusing to finally get vaccinated in the same way that has already occurred with care home staff.
