'Full House' actor John Stamos convicted of DUI in Beverly Hills

Nov. 25--"Full House" actor John Stamos will have to attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and enter an alcohol abuse program for first-time offenders as part of a plea deal for driving under the influence of a drug in June in Beverly Hills, prosecutors announced Tuesday.

Stamos, 52, who stars in the new show "Grandfathered," pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor count of DUI. He was sentenced to three years' summary probation, ordered to enter a three-month alcohol abuse program, attend two hours of drug and alcohol addiction counseling from a private physician and attend 52 AA meetings, authorities said.

Stamos was arrested June 12 after witnesses reported seeing him behave strangely and driving erratically near Canon Drive and Brighton Way in Beverly Hills, prosecutors said.

After his arrest, Stamos appeared on the "Today" show and talked about his stint at a residential rehab program over the summer.

"I lost my mother last year, who was the love of my life -- obviously a difficult time for me," he said. "I had this moment, I had some time off and I had a decision to make. So I took advantage of the time and I made a choice, and I'm just so grateful that I did."

Stamos is best known for playing the lovable Uncle Jesse on the hit show "Full House."
