Full details as Man Utd confirm plans for supporters' return to Old Trafford

Manchester United have announced plans for the return of fans to Old Trafford.

With Greater Manchester currently in Tier Three, no fans are permitted entry to United's stadium.

But with the tier status up for review on December 16, United's Premier League match against Leeds four days later could see the return of fans for the first time since March.

If Greater Manchester is moved to Tier Two, 2,000 fans will be allowed into Old Trafford, with tickets priced £30 for adults, £15 for Under-20s and over-65s, and £10 for children.

Those tickets will be located in the Sir Alex Ferguson Stand and Stretford End, with fans able to apply individually or in groups of two.

The majority of tickets will be allocated to season ticket holders and a random ballot will be held on a match-by-match basis.

Applications will be accepted from season ticket holders from last season, irrespective of whether they have renewed. New season ticket holders will also be able to apply.

Fans who apply must comply with a new code of conduct, which encourages respectful behaviour and social distancing at the stadium.

The move comes after Arsenal's Emirates Stadium became the first Premier League ground to host supporters in nine months on Thursday night.

The Gunners had 2,000 fans in attendance for their Europa League win over Rapid Vienna.

United are also to install 1,500 barrier seats early next year as they prepare to trial safe standing at Old Trafford.

Trafford Council approved the plans to trial 1,500 barrier seats in the J Stand earlier in the year and installation is now due to start in early 2021.

Managing director Richard Arnold said in April that United's "belief is that the introduction of barrier seats will enhance spectator safety in areas of the stadium where - as with other clubs - we have seen examples of persistent standing".
