Full details announced for Liverpool's Community Shield clash against Arsenal

The date and kick-off time for Liverpool’s clash against Arsenal in the Community Shield have been confirmed.

The Reds will face the Gunners at Wembley Stadium later this month in the traditional curtain raiser for the English football season.

Jurgen Klopp’s side earned their place in the showpiece event after being crowned Premier League champions, while Arsenal take part after winning the FA Cup.

The match will take place at Wembley on Saturday, August 29, with kick-off scheduled for 4.30pm and will be played behind closed doors, with BT Sport broadcasting the tie in the UK.

Liverpool’s final nine league fixtures were forced to be played in empty stadiums for safety reasons due to the coronavirus pandemic, and those measures will continue at least for next season’s opener.

This will be the second year in a row that Liverpool have competed in the Community Shield, after suffering a defeat to Manchester City on penalties last year.

The Reds have won or shared the Community/Charity Shield on 15 occasions, with their last triumph coming against Chelsea in 2006.
