Full breakdown of Bruno Fernandes' £67.8m transfer to Manchester United

The details of the deal that looks set to take Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon to Manchester United have been revealed, with the 25-year-old appearing close to finally sign for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side in the coming hours.

United announced on Wednesday afternoon that they had agreed a fee with Sporting for the signing of Fernandes , who will now move to Old Trafford subject to a medical and the agreement of personal terms.

The signing is good news for United fans, who had been becoming frustrated with the lack of activity in the transfer window up until now, and Fernandes will add a much-needed touch of class to their midfield.

A statement released by Sporting has broken down the details of the deal, with United paying £46.5m up front for the player.

They could also be due a maximum of around another £21m in add-ons depending on both Fernandes' and United's performance during his time at the club. They will receive £4.2m in appearance-related bonuses, £4.2m if United qualify for the Champions League, and £12.6m for 'personal prizes'- for example if Fernandes were ever to win the Ballon d'Or.

There is also £4.6m to pay in agents' fees, meaning the whole deal could end up costing United over an eye-watering £70m.

Both supporters and United staff will be hoping Fernandes is worth the hefty fee, with great expectations put on his shoulders.

Fernandes has been a prolific goalscorer from midfield for Sporting, finding the net eight times in 17 games in the Primeira Liga so far this season and bagging 20 times in 33 matches during the previous campaign.

While the deal will not be complete in time for United's Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Manchester City tonight, he could be in line to make his debut against Wolves in the Premier League on Saturday.
