Full Atletico Madrid squad revealed for Champions League clash vs Chelsea as trio miss out

Spanish giants Atletico Madrid have revealed their travelling squad that will make the trip to Bucharest to face Chelsea in the first-leg of Tuesday evening's last-16 Champions League clash, confirming that three big-name players will miss out.

Jose Gimenez, Hector Herrera and Yannick Carrasco have all failed to make the squad, meaning the Spanish giants will be without three of their most important players for the showdown with Thomas Tuchel's Blues.

Centre-back Gimenez made a surprise return to the squad at the weekend for Atletico's shock 2-0 home defeat to Levante but limped off shortly after half time following a blow to his ankle.

Midfielder Herrera has been ruled out of the trip to Romania after producing a positive coronavirus test whilst Belgian winger Carrasco, who is currently in his second spell with the La Liga club, sustained a muscle injury in the build-up to Saturday's clash with Levante.

His absence will be a huge loss for the Spanish club, with the winger having been a key figure for Atletico this season, racking up 21 appearances in all competitions.

However, whilst Atletico have been dealt that blow for the first-leg with the Blues, the La Liga club will have the likes of Thomas Lemar, Joao Felix and Luis Suarez all available for selection, with the trio having been named in the 21-man squad that will travel to Romania.

As well as those three having been named in the squad, striker Moussa Dembele, on loan from Lyon, has been named in the travelling squad after recently returning a positive coronavirus test. He has, however, been cleared to be a part of the squad.

With that in mind, Simeone will be able to call upon some very talented attacking stars to try and guide Atletico in a strong position ahead of the second-leg at Stamford Bridge. The likes of Felix, Suarez, Dembele and Angel Correa have all been named in the squad.

Elsewhere, goalkeeper Jan Oblak, Renan Lodi, Koke and Saul have all been named in the travelling squad.

Full Atletico Madrid squad available to face Chelsea:

Goalkeepers: Ivo Grbic, Jan Oblak & Miguel San Roman.

Defenders: Renan Lodi, Stefan Savic, Felipe, Mario Hermoso, Alvaro Garcia & Ricard Sanchez.

Midfielders: Geoffrey Kondogbia, Lucas Torreirra, Koke, Saul, Thomas Lemar, Marcos Llorente & Vitolo.

Attackers: Joao Felix, Luis Suarez, Angel Correa, Moussa Dembele & Sergio Camello.
