Full Arsenal squad revealed for Carabao Cup tie vs Sunderland as Mikel Arteta faces Cedric call

Arsenal are back in action tonight as they turn their attention to the Carabao Cup quarter-final against Sunderland.

The Gunners cruised to victory on Saturday against Leeds United after two goals from Gabriel Martinelli, as well as one each for Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe helped Arsenal to a 4-1 win.

Victory meant that Arsenal extended their advantage over fifth-placed West Ham United in the Premier League table to four points - although the Hammers do have a game in hand.

However, despite a return to form on the pitch, Mikel Arteta is having to combat a few issues off it, as a number of first-team players are out for their upcoming matches, including tonight's clash with Sunderland.

Right-back Takehiro Tomiyasu remains a doubt after the Japan international was forced off the pitch against Leeds in the 64th minute with what was confirmed to be a muscular issue by Arteta.

Sunderland may come too soon for Tomiyasu, meaning Cedric Soares could find himself rotated into the side for Tuesday night's fixture.

Meanwhile, Pablo Mari and Albert Sambi Lokonga have both tested positive for Covid-19 and are isolating until they are able to return a negative result.

Speaking before the game against Leeds, Arteta said: "We had another player, as well Pablo [Mari] has Covid, so unfortunately they [Mari and Lokonga] will be out."

Bernd Leno, who returned to the bench on Saturday following four games out with a groin issue, is expected to replace the in-form Aaron Ramsdale in goal as Arteta looks to continue with that approach in the cup.

Sead Kolasinac, however, is still sidelined, with the Bosnia and Herzegovina international sustaining a significant ankle injury during November's international break.

Meanwhile, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is unlikely to return following his latest disciplinary breach that saw him stripped of the Gunners' captaincy last week. His future at Arsenal is now uncertain and a return date is yet to be determined.

With that all in mind, let's take a look at the full squad available to Arteta for tonight's quarter-final.

Goalkeepers: Aaron Ramsdale, Bernd Leno, Arthur Okonkwo.

Defenders: Kieran Tierney, Ben White, Gabriel Magalhaes, Rob Holding, Cedric Soares, Takehiro Tomiyasu [doubt], Nuno Tavares, Calum Chambers.

Midfielders: Thomas Partey, Granit Xhaka, Martin Odegaard, Emile Smith Rowe, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Mohamed Elneny.

Forwards: Bukayo Saka, Alexandre Lacazette, Nicolas Pepe, Folarin Balogun, Eddie Nketiah, Gabriel Martinelli.
