Full Arsenal squad for Europa League clash vs Benfica revealed as Kieran Tierney returns

Arsenal are defending a proud European record when they return to Europa League action against Benfica tonight.

The Gunners eased into the round of 32 stage by picking up maximum points in a group that contained Dundalk, Rapid Wien, and Molde - meaning Mikel Arteta's side are the only side in European competition with a 100 per cent winning record this season.

Although, that record will be under threat against Benfica.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the round of 32 first-leg tie will not be staged at Benfica's Estadio da Luz, but instead will be taking place at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

In fact, both ties will be staged at neutral venues - with next week's clash taking place at Stadio Georgios Karaiskakis, home of Olympiacos in Athens - and Arteta admits this makes things 'unusual'.

"Well, it's very unusual but we have to try to maintain the integrity of the competition as much as we can," the Arsenal manager said in his pre-match press conference.

"The only way to do that at the moment is to play at different venues, but at least it's played over two legs with away goals always present."

Ahead of tonight's clash with Benfica, Arteta will be without just two first-team players in midfielder Thomas Partey because of injury and goalkeeper Alex Runarsson who has not been registered for the knockout phase.

Although, Kieran Tierney is in contention to return to the starting XI after making the trip to Italy following a spell on the sidelines with a leg injury.

"Thomas didn't travel," Arteta added. "He's not there yet, he's still training individually. Kieran has had one session with us and is part of the squad."

With that in mind, Arteta has no shortage of options as he will have a near full-strength squad to choose from with no other fresh injury concerns.
