Fulham vs Liverpool team news as Jurgen Klopp hints at one starting XI decision

Scott Parker and Jurgen Klopp have contrasting issues when it comes to selecting their teams for Sunday's match at Craven Cottage.

Fulham are nearing a full squad to choose from while Liverpool are racking up injuries as the relentless calendar gives them little room to breathe.

Kenny Tete and Josh Onomah both garnered minutes for the under-23 side with the former having returned to full training. However, Parker said Liverpool would come too soon for Tete and Terence Kongolo, who has now entered 'modified' training.

Knocks to Diogo Jota and Konstantinos Tsimikas against Midtjylland has added to Klopp's woes. Jota has impressed since his transfer from Wolves but is one of six players likely to be ruled out.

Joe Gomez, Xherdan Shaqiri, James Milner, Virgil van Dijk and Thiago Alcantanara are expected to miss out on the squad making the trip to west London.

There is a slim chance Tsimikas could still find a place on the bench, but Alisson Becker may make his way back into the starting XI after recovering from a thigh injury.

In his press conference on Friday Klopp noted: "Alisson will train today. If he trains and it is all fine then he can play."

Liverpool's injury predicament could also see Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain return to the fray after returning to training following the knee injury he suffered during pre-season.

Klopp said: "He has been doing parts of training now for a week or so, he is now in full training and we will see.

“So the situation probably demands to involve him as soon as possible, but I don’t know if the weekend is that already. Nobody else is coming back, I’m afraid.”
