Kick-off in Sunday’s Premier League fixture between Fulham and Liverpool was delayed due to a medical emergency at Craven Cottage.

The match was originally scheduled to start at 3pm GMT, but had to be pushed back until 3:15pm.

“Due to a medical emergency at the ground, kick-off has been delayed by 15 minutes,” Fulham confirmed in a statement on social media, with no further details given.

The teams returned to their respective dressing rooms following confirmation of the delay to kick-off, before later re-emerging for a second brief warm-up on a cold day in west London and getting underway at the revised time.

Liverpool made three changes to face Fulham after their dull goalless draw at home to Leeds on New Year’s Day, with striker Hugo Ekitike a surprise absentee with a hamstring injury that manager Arne Slot hopes will not rule him out of Thursday’s high-profile trip to leaders Arsenal.

With no Alexander Isak either as the British record signing continues to recover from surgery on an ankle injury and fractured fibula suffered at Tottenham before Christmas, Cody Gakpo leads Liverpool’s attack on his first start since recovering from a muscle issue.

Milos Kerkez and Alexis Mac Allister are also back in the Reds’ starting XI on Sunday, with Andy Robertson and Jeremie Frimpong dropping to the bench.

Joe Gomez returns to the squad as a substitute after injury, though Wataru Endo and Giovanni Leoni remain unavailable along with Mohamed Salah, who is still away with Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Fulham, meanwhile, show three changes from the team that drew at Crystal Palace last time out, with Marco Silva switching to a back three as Issa Diop, Timothy Castagne and Tom Cairney replaced Kenny Tete, Sander Berge and Kevin.

Tete joins Josh King, Ryan Sessegnon and Rodrigo Muniz on the sidelines, with Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi and Samuel Chukwueze all with Nigeria at AFCON.
