Fulham 1-1 Leicester: James Maddison scores to ensure hosts stay bottom

Claudio Ranieri was denied a memorable victory over Leicester when his former team recovered from a goal down to secure a 1-1 draw at Fulham.

The manager had been out of the Premier League for approaching two years since his sacking by Leicester, who he remarkably inspired to the title in 2016, when last month Fulham recruited him to lead them to safety following a troubled start to the season.

His influence has already been felt and he was on course to take them out of the relegation zone when Aboubakar Kamara gave the hosts a first-half lead.

The classy James Maddison then scored during the second half, 16 minutes from time, as both teams wasted further chances, instead keeping Fulham bottom of the league. PA

Good afternoon and welcome to The Independent's live coverage of tonight's Premier League action, headlined by a mouth-watering clash at Old Trafford between rivals Manchester United and Arsenal.

The match is one of six Premier League games taking place today, with Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham also in action. Liverpool make the short trip to Turf Moor to face Burnley, while Chelsea are also on the road as they head to the Molineaux to face Wolves, and Tottenham host Southampton at Wembley Stadium just a few hours after the visitors announced Ralph Hasenhutl as their new manager.

The other two matches taking place this evening sees Everton host Newcastle at Goodison Park and Fulham manager Claudio Ranieri come up against the side who he guided to the Premier League title in Leicester City.

It is Anthony Martial's birthday today, with the French striker turning 23.

Will there be cause for further celebrations after tonight's game at Old Trafford? Martial starts alongside Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford in the front three.

Six of the top eight in action tonight. Tasty...

One of those starting for Liverpool is Divock Origi, he of the bizarro injury time winner in the Merseyside Derby at the weekend.

For one fan, that goal will stay with him forever...

Where can I watch?

Player to watch:

Rachid Ghezzal. The Algerian has big shoes to fill as replacement to compatriot Riyad Mahrez. He has made a respectable start in England, but the former Monaco winger has the ability to stretch Fulham’s leaky backline with his pace and trickery.

Leicester City: DWDDW

Odds:

Fulham: 9/5

Leicester City: 6/4
