Fulham transfer window guide: Tom Cairney's future and Marco Silva's plan for busy summer

What’s at stake: Fulham stand to lose club legends this summer - (Getty)

Fulham are at a bit of a crossroads this summer.

Their manager Marco Silva needs to feel he is being backed in the transfer market or they risk him being tempted by offers to manage elsewhere.

Juventus, Tottenham and Al Hilal have all considered the Portuguese for their head coach positions, but he remains committed to Fulham as things stand.

Top priority

Fulham have reasonable squad depth but are seeking to strengthen the quality of their attacking options.

Raul Jimenez and Rodrigo Muniz have competed for the No9 spot for two seasons, sharing the game time in Silva’s 4-2-3-1 system.

However, a third striker is now wanted to rival Muniz and Jimenez for the starting role.

What else they need

A new right-back will be targeted if Kenny Tete does not sign a new contract. He has been offered new deals in the past, with his current contract due to expire this month.

Fulham will also consider strengthening in central midfield and will look to bring in a winger if Reiss Nelson’s return to Arsenal is followed by Willian leaving as a free agent. The 36-year-old’s future is unclear.

Possible ins

Interest in Lyon’s Rayan Cherki remains, but he is now being pursued by both Manchester clubs and likely to be outside of Fulham’s price range.

They have been linked with Besiktas winger Rafa Silva.

The US striker Ricardo Pepi, wanted in January by West Ham before they signed Evan Ferguson on loan, is liked by Fulham. It may, however, prove difficult to prise him away from PSV.

Possible

Tete will leave if a new deal cannot be agreed, and the club may decide to move on from the veteran Willian.

Fulham fans will hope Liverpool wrap up the signing of Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez as soon as possible.

Their own left-back, Antonee Robinson, is admired by a number of Europe’s top clubs, including the Reds.

Captain Tom Cairney could leave as a free agent after a decade at the club. Carlos Vinicius is also poised to leave.
