Fulham manager Marco Silva addresses West Ham rumours

Marco Silva says the rumours linking him with a move away from Fulham are a “consequence” of a good season with the club.

Standard Sport understands there have been keen eyes cast on the 45-year-old from the within the Premier League after a successful campaign in west London.

Tipped to be involved in the relegation battle before a ball was kicked, the Cottagers are in with an outside chance of amassing a club-record points tally in the Premier League.

Fulham currently sit 10th heading into Saturday’s trip to Southampton and two wins from their final three games would see them hit 54 points for the first time.

David Moyes is facing an uncertain future at West Ham and Silva was linked with the vacant Tottenham post following the departure of Antonio Conte.

Decision-makers at Craven Cottage are keen to discuss a new contract with Silva amid fears a rival club will look to activate a £6m release clause in his current deal, which is due to expire in the summer of 2024.

Of the links away, the Portuguese said: “It’s a moment of the season when everyone is going to talk about managers, about players, about everything. There are rumours around everything.

"When you do a good season of course, it’s a consequence of the performance, the way the team is playing. It’s a normal situation. If there’s something new, we’re going to announce it."

Aleksandr Mitrovic will be available for Fulham’s trip to the south coast before Silva’s side host Crystal Palace and travel to Manchester United for the final game of the season.
