Claudio Ranieri goes into his first game as Fulham manager with a reasonably brief injury list that will doubtless aid his bid to drag the Cottagers clear of the relegation zone.
Ranieri’s predecessor Slavisa Jokanovic spent much of this season weighed down by selection problems, a contributing factor in Fulham’s disastrous slide to the foot of the Premier League.
For the visit of Southampton to Craven Cottage Ranieri is expected to be without two midfield options, with Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa carrying a knock and Kevin McDonald sidelined with a muscular injury.
In their absence Ranieri is somewhat short of options in defensive midfield should he continue with the 4-3-3 Jokanovic favoured for much of his tenure, though Jean-Michael Seri or highly-regarded youngster Matt O’Riley could step into the breach.
Left-back Joe Bryan will require a fitness test on his hamstring but could return after seven weeks out. Striker Aleksandar Mitrovic is one yellow card away from suspension.
