Fulham find Fabio Carvalho 'replacement' as Liverpool transfer edges closer

Fulham have seemingly made a move to replace the outgoing Fabio Carvalho ahead of next season as they have approached Shaktar Donetsk for winger Manor Solomon in deal that could be worth £7million. Reports came out last week that Liverpool are close to completing the signing of Carvalho for an initial £5million.

The 19-year-old almost secured a switch to Liverpool on the final day of the January transfer window, but the deal fell through as time ran out. The ECHO understands Liverpool have continued to negotiate behind the scenes and are on the brink of concluding a deal for the England Under-20 international.

The Reds had been concerned about losing out to a European giant given Carvalho was able to speak to clubs outside of England in January. They were also wary of the potential for a tribunal hearing with Carvalho into the final six months of his contract when they made contact with Fulham in January.

Club sources have remained tight-lipped over what the fee could rise to Carvalho, with his deal running out in the summer, but the price for the youngster could apparently rise to £7.5 million. Liverpool have agreed a 20% sell-on clause for Carvalho too and personal terms are in place.

Klopp said when the deal fell through: "We are still interested - it would be crazy if we were not. It was late, the window closed, it did not work out. We'll see what happens."

And today Telegraph reporter John Percy indicated a Carvalho replacement could soon be on the way to London, as he tweeted: "Fulham have moved to replace Fabio Carvalho ahead of next season by opening talks with Shakhtar Donetsk over a deal for winger Manor Solomon, an Israel international. Talks ongoing, transfer worth around £7m".
