Fulham deny making bid for Barcelona defender Gerard Pique

Fulham's director of football, Tony Khan, has denied reports that the club made a move for Barcelona defender Gerard Pique.

The 33-year-old's future at Camp Nou is in doubt following Barca's humiliating 8-2 defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-finals earlier this month.

Reports in Spain had linked the former Manchester United defender with a Premier League return, with newly promoted Fulham mentioned.

However, responding to rumours that a two-year deal has been offered, Khan simply replied: "False."

Fulham spent £100million on 12 new signings following their promotion to the Premier League in 2018, destabilising the squad which brought them up and soon found themselves back in the Championship after two managers were sacked and Scott Parker appointed.

This time around, Khan and Parker have assured supporters they will not follow the same route.

The club on Thursday announced their first signing of the summer in 23-year-old Antonee Robinson, who joined from Wigan for a fee of £1.9million.
