Fulham closing in on deal to appoint Marco Silva to replace Scott Parker

Former Watford manager Marco Silva is leading the way to replace Scott Parker at Fulham.

Parker’s exit to take a new role at Championship rivals Bournemouth was confirmed on Monday and Fulham are closing in on a deal to appoint Silva.

Fulham owner Shahid Khan committed to hiring a “new head coach who is capable of achieving our goal of promotion and will be committed to Fulham and its supporters”.

The Cottagers quickly opened talks with Silva, who has also managed Hull City and Everton.

Players returned for pre-season training at Motspur Park on Monday morning and Fulham are keen to make a swift appointment.

Swansea manager Steve Cooper, who has also been of interest to Crystal Palace this summer having taken the Swans to the Championship Play-Off Final last season, has also been considered for the Fulham job.

Silva, 43, has been out of work since being sacked by Everton in December 2019.
