Fulham charged with disorderly conduct after Bristol City penalty appeal

Fulham have been charged with failing to control their players after having a penalty appeal turned down in the game against Bristol City.

The Cottagers had a late appeal for a penalty turned away by referee Jeremy Simpson in the 2-1 defeat on Saturday.

The players and staff thought Callum O'Dowda brought down Neeskens Kebano in the final few minutes of the game at Craven Cottage.

Kebano raced into the box and latched on to a ball from former City left back Joe Bryan, before Callum O'Dowa crossed him from behind and Kebano went down.

Following Simpson's decision to not award a penalty, the players swarmed the referee in protest and captain Tom Cairney was booked in the aftermath.

A spokesman for the FA said: "Fulham FC has been charged with a breach of FA Rule E20 following the EFL Championship fixture against Bristol City FC on Saturday 7 December 2019.

"It is alleged that Fulham FC failed to ensure its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion during the 93rd minute.

"The Club has until Friday 13 December 2019 to provide a response."

Lee Johnson addressed the issue after the game, and said: "I haven’t seen the penalty back, in true ‘Arsene Wenger’ style but I don’t need to, I spoke to the player, Callum O’Dowda.

"I’m not sure who the striker was who cut across him but Callum felt that he pulled away and pulled out but obviously that’s a players word for it and I’m sure that if the roles were reversed, I’d have a different opinion."

Goals from Josh Brownhill and Famara Diedhiou were enough to see off Fulham, despite a late goal from Aboubakar Kamara.
