Fulham appoint Scott Parker as permanent manager after successful interim spell

Scott Parker has been appointed as Fulham's permanent manager after a successful interim spell in charge.

The former England midfielder has impressed in a caretaker role since he replaced the sacked Claudio Ranieri in February, becoming the third man in the Craven Cottage dugout this season, even though he failed to save Fulham from relegation.

Parker is now entrusted with leading the Cottagers to an immediate return to the top flight after a disastrous season in the Premier League.

The 38-year-old, in his first managerial role, has shown promise ahead of a full season in England's second tier, guiding the club to three top-flight wins on the bounce for the first time in over seven years.

"I'm delighted to be appointed Head Coach of Fulham Football Club and I thank the Chairman for entrusting me with this responsibility, as well as the support and encouragement that both he and Tony Khan have provided me," he told the club's official website.

“The players, staff and fans have all been fantastic with me since I took temporary charge.

"We are now all focused on ending this campaign with a positive result on Sunday against Newcastle and look forward to preparations for the new season, which have already begun.”
