Fulham and Chelsea agree £22m Tyrique George transfer in Deadline Day twist

Fulham have reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign winger Tyrique George on a permanent transfer.

The 19-year-old has been permitted to undergo a medical ahead of a £22million move that will see Chelsea retain a sell-on clause.

George, who scored the only Premier League goal of his career so far away at Fulham last season, will pen a five-year contract at Craven Cottage.

The England youth international made 26 senior appearances across all competitions for Chelsea, providing three goals and three assists, as they won the Conference League and Club World Cup last season.

George is highly-rated at Stamford Bridge but has seen his opportunities limited following the arrivals of Estevao Willian and Jamie Gittens this summer.

The Cobham academy graduate has explored opportunities elsewhere, having made just one substitute appearance this season, as an early replacement for the injured Liam Delap against Fulham on Saturday, and was previously close to joining Serie A side Roma.

RB Leipzig also held an interest in George, but Fulham, who are in the market for attacking reinforcements, have struck decisively to agree a deal with Chelsea.

Fulham are looking to add at least two wingers to their squad before Monday night’s deadline and are closing in on deals for Shakhtar Donetsk’s Kevin and Samuel Chukwueze of AC Milan.

The club are still waiting on the results of Kevin's medical, while they have agreed an initial loan deal with an option to buy set at between £22m-£26m for Chukwueze.

Fulham held an interest in both Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling and Arsenal’s Reiss Nelson, the latter of whom is joining Brentford on loan, but have opted to bring in George instead.

Fulham have endured a difficult summer, so far only managing to bring in back-up goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte, but are hopeful of concluding multiple deals before the window closes.
