
Craftspeople paint papier-mache boars, representing the Chinese zodiac sign for 2019, in the Takashiba Deko Yashiki folk art community in Koriyama, Fukushima Prefecture. Production of the boars is at its peak in the community, which has been a center of folk art for more than 300 years. "Next year will mark the eighth year since the [2011 Great East Japan] earthquake, and I hope restoration work charges ahead like a boar," a craftsman said.
