A dinosaur museum in Fukui Prefecture has uploaded videos of some of their exhibits onto YouTube, so people can tour the currently shuttered museum from the comfort of their home.
The Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum in Katsuyama, Fukui Prefecture, is closed through April 7, due to the outbreak of the new coronavirus.
The videos have the main title "Dokodemo Kyoryu Hakubutsu-kan (A dinosaur museum you can see from anywhere)." Each of the museum's 15 researchers chose a fossil they recommend and made a three-minute video introducing it.
Regarding the fossil of a Fukuiraptor that was unearthed in the area, researcher Soki Hattori explains things like the unique nature of its front claws. Hattori also talks about Geyserite, which are the fossilized remains of plants or of Archaeopteryx, the ancestor of birds.
"I'd love it if [the people who watch our videos] learn about our exhibits and come to visit the museum to experience them firsthand once we reopen our doors," a museum official said.
