Fugitive speedboat killer arrogantly demands VIP treatment on return to UK

Fugitive speedboat killer Fugitive speedboat killer got £100k in legal aid while on the run yesterday made a series of arrogant demands after he finally agreed to return to Britain.

He wants special privileges after dropping his opposition to being extradited from Georgia.

Shepherd is being held in Tbilisi, the nation’s capital, after going on the run a year ago while facing trial for the 2015 speedboat crash that killed Charlotte Brown.

He was sentenced to six years in jail in his absence for the manslaughter of Charlotte, from Essex,
who he had taken on a champagne-fuelled first date on the River Thames.

He handed himself in to police in Georgia in January.

Shepherd, 31, said: “I made this difficult decision because I wish to participate in the appeal process for my freedom and be reunited with those I love – my family, my son.”

His legal team described his actions as “dignified.”

Lawyer Mariam Kublashavili outlined several “demands” for her client to “ensure his future safety”.

She told the court in Tbilisi: “He demands for round-the-clock 24 hour video and audio control when he is in his prison cell.

“He demands he is in a prison cell alone and that he has special guards in a special cell.

“He is suffering psychological conditions and is tortured psychologically.”

Her colleague Tariel Kakabadze claimed Shepherd will be cleared when back.

He said: “The conviction was wrong and the chances are enormously high he will be acquitted.”
